Al Wakrah coach Marquez Lopez spoke to the media ahead of their 2021-2022 season QNB Stars League Week 22 match against Al Sadd.

“We tried to make the maximum possible efforts during the preparations for the match. We had only two days to prepare and everyone knows that our focus at this stage is on the Amir Cup. But that does not prevent us from striving to achieve the best possible result in the Al Sadd match.

“The players who played in the Amir Cup match will not play against Al Sadd and that is clear. There is no time and the players in the previous match played extra with numerical disadvantage for more than 45 minutes and played with great strength.

“We need to keep the players fully prepared, but the important thing now is the Amir Cup. The league is over and we are assured of the third place. We cannot risk players. That is clear of course,” said Marquez.

Al Wakrah player Abdullah Hussein Al Muftah said, “Al Sadd are a great team with outstanding players, be they local or professional, who can finish the match at any second. God-willing, we will go into the match with a mentality to win. We will try to be back on the winning path.

“We will focus as much as we can on to implement the coach’s instructions and getting to know the tactics of the match, and we will make the utmost possible efforts during the two halves of the meeting, in the hope of achieving the desired result.
