Al Ahli is the oldest club in Qatar. It was founded in 1950 under the name of Al Najah. However, this was changed a few years later to Al Ahli to represent the geographic area of the club.
The side is nicknamed The Brigadiers, a nod to their status and prestige as the oldest club in Qatar. The team has a rich heritage and history as well as a strong fan base.
In the 1984-85 season, the club got its new headquarters, the first club to receive modern facilities, in recognition of its status as the country’s first club.

Pedro Miguel Marquez

Portuguese Pedro Miguel Marquez, nicknamed Pepa, is one of the most prominent names among young coaches and is currently at the helm of Al Ahli.
He assumed charge of The Brigadiers during the 2023-2024 football season, after Week 5 of the Expo Stars League, and everyone in the club is counting on him to provide the team with excellent levels and results.
After his retirement, he began his coaching career in the 2010-2011 season as an assistant with Tondela team. He then coached Benfica’s youth team, and clubs like Feirense, Moreirense and Vitoria Guimaraes.
He also had coaching experience with Saudi Arabia’s Al Tai club in 2022 in addition to Brazilian side Cruzeiro.
