Al Duhail were founded in 2009 under the name of Lekhwiya Sports Club. They are located in the Al Duhail area of Qatar’s capital Doha.
Nicknamed The Red Knights, Al Duhail have become a prominent side in Qatar and Asian football.
They are strong contenders in all tournaments and have won the Qatar Stars League title seven times, including in their debut season in 2010-11.

Argentinian Hernan Crespo took over the task of coaching Al Duhail from Portuguese Luis Castro.
Crespo is one of the reputed names in the world of football through his association with a number of clubs, most notably River Plate, Parma, Lazio, Inter Milan, Chelsea, AC Milan and Genoa.
He also represented his country’s national team in many international matches, and was chosen among the 100 best football players by FIFA.
Moving on, Crespo coached Brazilian club Sao Paulo, after his success with Defensa Justicia, and Argentinian club Banfield in addition to Italian club Modena.
