Qatar SC coach Youssef Safri spoke to the media ahead of their 2021-2022 season QNB Stars League Week 7 match against Al Wakrah.

“My team is ready for the Al Wakrah match. Our preparations took place in an excellent atmosphere and with a very good focus and keenness to correct the mistakes we made against Umm Salal. We lost that game in the last minutes (2-2 draw) due to poor concentration. So, we worked hard in training to get better at focusing well.

“I thank members of the club management for their great co-operation and arranging the team’s all requirements. Our main concern now is this match. We have worked hard while correcting our mistakes. We will focus on all lines in one format. As for the players’ readiness, we have some injuries, but everyone will be fully prepared for the match.

“In general, we have many positive points. The match will be strong for both teams. Al Wakrah are a good team that plays collectively and their results indicate that they work as a single unit. They have players capable of making the difference. For us, we will focus on our strengths and provide a performance in line with our capabilities.

“Our team is going through a phase of continuous development in performance. I hope our fan support will continue for us, especially as we need them because they have always supported the players, especially in difficult periods. Fan support plays an important role in helping players raise their morale,” said Safri.

Qatar SC player Ahmed Moein said, “Facing Al Wakrah won’t be easy as they are coming off a win over Al Duhail. They have a strong motivation to do well, but we will play with great confidence based on our abilities. We have great enthusiasm in training and hopefully we are able to translate that on the field.

“We aim to beat Al Wakrah and progress in the standings. Our new coach has got the players to do well despite him being with us for a short period of time. I would say we are witnessing a phase of technical and psychological development at the moment, which feels good.”
