Al Wakrah face Al Markhiya in Week 5 of the 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League. The kick-off is at 17:10 at the Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium on Monday, 29th August, 2022.
Both teams will be striving to achieve a win and collect three points being driven by different ambitions and goals.
While Al Wakrah (10 points) are currently in good form and are chasing Al Arabi (12 pts) at the top of the standings, Al Markhiya are eighth with four points and in search of a second win.
Al Wakrah and Al Arabi are the only two teams that have not lost a match so far. Al Wakrah’s Spanish coach Marques Lopez is keen that his team continues this streak and avert any surprises from Al Markhiya.
The Blue Wave have been playing a wonderful attacking game that has won everyone’s admiration, having scored 12 goals in four matches, with their prominent star this season Jacinto Dala being the top scorer in the league with six goals.
Al Markhiya, who began by beating defending champions Al Sadd, have won one match, drawn one and lost two.
Coach Abdullah Mubarak wants his team to restore the positive results and the distinguished performances they came up with against Al Sadd and in the draw against Qatar SC.
Al Markhiya have scored five goals in the past four matches but have also conceded seven goals which shows that there are defensive gaps that need to be tightened, especially against Al Wakrah who have an attacking duo in Angolan Dala and Algerian Mohamed Benyettou.
