Al Duhail’s Almoez Ali has been adjudged the best Under-23 player after the first phase of 2017-18 QNB Stars League, according to football analysis and statistics provider STATS company.
Special rating was given for players in this category along with general rating for Qatari and foreign professionals, where Al Duhail’s Youssef Msakni emerged on top ahead of Al Sailiya’s Wagner Ribeiro and team-mate Youssef El Arabi.
The ratings were done based on data, such as the number of matches and minutes played by players, goals scored, passes made and assists given.
The list included 18 players, aged between 18 and 22. The youngest of them was Al Sadd’s Ahmed Suhail and most prominent were Umm Salal’s Adel Alawi, Al Markhiya’s Nasser Ibrahim and Salah Al Yahri, Al Sailiya’s Abdullah Al Marri and Qatar SC’s Omar Al Emadi.
Ten of the 12 QNB Stars League clubs had representation in the list, which did not feature Al Rayyan and Al Khor.

Al Sadd and Qatar SC have three players each, while Al Duhail, Al Gharafa, Al Markhiya and Al Ahli all have two. Al Arabi, Al Sailiya, Al Kharaitiyat and Umm Salal have one.
Only two players — Al Ahli’s Yazan Naim (the only goalkeeper to feature) and Al Sailiya’s Abdullah Al Marri —played all 11 matches. Yazan upstaged others in terms of the number of minutes (1,061) played. And he was not substituted in any game.
Adel, who is presently representing Qatar at the Gulf Cup in Kuwait, was next, spending 917 minutes on the pitch over 10 games.
Almoez topped them all with 73.2 points. He had 785 minutes on the field, played 10 games, scored four goals and gave as many assists. The Red Knights player had scored a goal in Qatar’s 4-0 victory over Yemen in their Gulf Cup opener on Saturday.

Al Sadd’s Salem Al Hajri came second in the rating with 69 points although he neither scored nor assisted during his 820 minutes of play across nine matches.
Al Gharafa’s Amro Seraj (68.4) finished third with two goals and one assist off 715 minutes.
Qatar SC’s Omar Al Emadi (67.8, seven games, 619 minutes and a goal), Al Sadd’s Ahmed Suhail (67.4, 381 minutes, four games) and Adel (65.6) followed in that order.
Ahmed Suhail is the youngest player in the league, while Yazan, who occupied the seventh spot, got a rating of 65.3.
Qatar SC’s Jassim Shanein (65) and Abdulaziz Metwali (64.2), and Nasser Ibrahim (64.1) were rated eighth, ninth and 10th respectively. Nasser scored a goal, while Abdulaziz provided one assist.
Al Duhail’s Bassam Al Rawi, who is also doing duty for Qatar at the ongoing Gulf Cup, came 11th with a score of 63.4 (nine matches, 598 minutes and one goal).
