In line with its community role and in an effort to further promote football culture as well as build constructive partnerships with many sections of the society, the Qatar Stars League (QSL) participated, for the second year in a row, in a football festival organised by the Yarmouk Preparatory School for Boys, under the auspices of Ministry of Education and Higher Education, on Thursday, 21st November, to mark the start date of FIFA World Cup in Qatar three years from now.
The festival was attended by 32 public and private schools, and Arab communities, represented by more than 300 students.
The event was attended by officials from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, including Mr. Hassan Abdullah Al Mohammadi, Director of Public Relations and Communication, Mr. Ali Al Kuwari, Director of School Affairs, and a number of Qatari artists, most notably Ali Al Maliki, Saad Burshid, Faraj Saad and Faisal Al Tamimi Abdul Wahed Mohammed. Also present were a number of players from QNB Stars League clubs, former players, such as Yousef Adam and Ahmed Al Sayed, and parents of students.
The school management, represented by Mr. Ibrahim Al Eidan, Director of Yarmouk School, Mr. Abdullah Mubarak, Sports Education Co-ordinator and national coach, and Mr. Khamis Mohammed Al Kuwari, Physical Education Teacher and international referee, welcomed all attendees and appreciated their presence in the event for school students.
The festival saw the 32 teams being divided into eight venues symbolising the number of stadiums hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and were named after the venues. Next to each stadium was a panel containing information about the stadium and its capacity and matches.
The festival also included football matches and many football-related events, with the participation of a number of players in a perfect ambience.
Nasser Mubarak Al Kuwari, Head of Community Relations at QSL, said, “I would like to thank the Yarmouk Preparatory School for Boys for its efforts. We also thank the Ministry of Education and Higher Education for its role in supporting such initiatives and all the attendees for their keenness to participate in this festival. It coincided with the start date of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and the QSL is keen to uphold its principles by playing a proactive role among many sections of the society through various initiatives.”
