The QNB Stars League Week 9 action too witnessed many outstanding individual performances. In all, 17 goals were scored. QSL Online highlights some of them.

Abderrazaq Hamdallah (Al Rayyan)

Moroccan striker Abderrazaq Hamdallah scored two goals in Al Rayyan’s 3-2 victory over Al Gharafa. He first converted a penalty, which was awarded after Sebastian Soria was brought down inside the box, and then fired in a power-packed shot that gave no chance to rival goalkeeper Yousuf Hassan. Soria himself did the spadework for the second goal. Hamdallah had another great game and helped The Lions to three valuable points that saw them occupy the second position in the standings.

Abdulqader Ilyas (Al Markhiya)

Abdulqader Ilyas has been one of the outstanding players in the league for some years during which he played for many teams in Qatar, including Al Sailiya. On Saturday, he scored a late equaliser for promoted side Al Markhiya against hosts Al Arabi that secured them a deserved point following a 1-1 draw. In the process, he upstaged more famous striker Kwame Karikari from Ghana. The Oryxes now have six points.

Moez Ali (Al Duhail)

Moez Ali gave a vital advantage to Al Duhail by scoring as early as the sixth minute in their crucial, high-voltage encounter against Al Sadd. He was quick to pounce on a back pass by Al Sadd’s Ali Asad and slammed the ball home. The goal helped The Red Knights seize the early advantage and they went on to win 4-2. Moez is proving to be vital weapon for Algerian coach Djamel Belmadi and the team continued to top the table.

Soroush Hossein (Al Khor)

Iranian professional Soroush Hossein hogged the limelight by netting Al Khor’s winner against high-flying Al Sailiya. The victory did a world of good for Al Khor as they jumped from eighth to sixth position in the standings with 10 points. The game headed for a draw before Soroush struck late past a resolute Al Sailiya defence and The Peregrines crashed to their first defeat in four matches.

Sanjar Tursunov (Al Kharaitiyat)

Uzbek professional Sanjar Tursunov scored the all-important goal from the penalty spot as Al Kharaitiyat earned a key victory over Al Ahli, who were coming off their win over Al Markhiya. It not only gave Al Kharaitiyat three valuable points, but enabled them to move from ninth to seventh spot. Anwar Diba first took the shot that was blocked by the goalkeeper. When the defence fumbled, Tursunov struck the ball home.

Bruno Gallo (Qatar SC)

Brazilian Bruno Gallo converted a penalty in the 48th minute that turned out to be their equaliser against formidable Umm Salal for whom Ivorian striker Yannick Sagbo found the target as early as the sixth minute. Bruno earned the kick after he was tripped by Umm Salal’s Youcef Sakour inside the box and he had no difficulty in sending the ball home. Qatar SC, languishing at the bottom, thus collected a morale-boosting point.
