The Qatar Clasico between Al Sadd and Al Rayyan highlighted the Week 6 action of 2019-20 QNB Stars League, which saw as many as 23 goals being scored across six matches.
Al Rayyan registered a famous and well-deserved 4-2 victory over Al Sadd in what was another marvelous advertisement for the QNB Stars League.
Al Rayyan are now level on 12 points with Al Sadd, who still have an extra game, against Al Arabi, in hand.
Al Sadd’s game against Al Arabi in Week 5 was deferred due to the former’s AFC Champions League commitment.
Gabriel Mercado, Rodrigo Tabata, Abdulaziz Hatem and Yacine Brahimi scored for Al Rayyan, while Nam Tae-Hee and Baghdad Bounedjah found the mark for Al Sadd.
Al Sadd are placed third following their first defeat and Al Rayyan fourth.
Al Duhail are leading the table with 14 points following their 2-1 win over Al Sailiya, their fourth victory in this season’s league.
Al Sailiya remained on seven points after their third defeat and are seventh in the standings.
Khaled Mohammed and Mohanad Ali scored for Al Duhail. Al Sailiya’s goal was scored by Abdulrahman Mohammed.
Al Wakrah and Al Gharafa shared the spoils after playing out an entertaining 3-3 draw.
Mohamed Benyettou, Khalid Muneer and Ousmane Coulibaly were on target for Al Wakrah, while Ahmed Alaaeldin, Adlene Guedioura and Koo Ja-Cheol were Al Gharafa’s scorers.
Al Gharafa are now fifth with 11 points and promoted Al Wakrah seventh with seven points.
Al Shahania did well to hold Umm Salal to a creditable 1-1 draw and opened their account.
Al Shahania grabbed the lead through Ramin Rezaeian and Umm Salal equalised through Adil Rhaili’s stunning goal.
Al Shahania still stayed at the bottom of the QNB Stars League table with one point. Umm Salal are ninth with five points.
Al Arabi recorded a come-from-behind 3-1 victory over Al Khor, with Hamdi Harbaoui (two penalty goals) and Pierre Lasogga finding the target. Ahmed Hassan had given Al Khor the lead.
Al Arabi are second on 13 points with a game in hand, whereas Al Khor stood on four points and are placed 10th.
Al Ahli needed two late goals to put it past Qatar SC 2-0 in the week’s last fixture. Abel Mathias and Abdulrahman Mustafa were the scorers.
Al Ahli moved to nine points and Qatar SC stood on three points.
