Al Wakrah and Al Gharafa had both lost in the last round, so they will be keen to be back among victories. It is against this backdrop that they go into their QNB Stars League Week 6 match at the Al Wakrah Stadium on Thursday.

Al Wakrah lost 1-2 to Umm Salal, while Al Gharafa suffered a 1-3 loss at the hands of Al Sailiya last week.

Marquez Lopez-coached Al Wakrah would definitely want to leave a good impression in the top flight, where they are playing after a gap of two seasons.

Al Wakrah’s victories were against Qatar SC (2-0) and Al Shahania (2-0). They lost 1-4 to Al Sadd and 2-4 to Al Duhail as well.

The Blue Wave are currently in eighth position with six points and have a goal difference of -2 (eight goals for and 10 against).

Al Gharafa are fourth in the table with 10 points. Even though they are tied on 10 points with Al Arabi, the latter were placed third in the league table by virtue of having better goal difference (+7 as against Al Gharafa’s +5).

Al Gharafa scored 10 goals and conceded five. Their victories were against Al Shahania (3-0), Qatar SC (3-1) and Al Ahli (3-1). They drew goalless with Al Rayyan and lost 1-3 to Al Sailiya.

Slavisa Jokanovic-coached Al Gharafa have QNB Stars League’s joint top scorer Ahmed Alaaeldin (five goals) in their ranks.
