Al Duhail defeated Al Sailiya 2-1 in Week 6 of the 2019-20 QNB Stars League at the Al Duhail Stadium on Thursday.

Al Duhail moved to 14 points with their fourth victory, while Al Sailiya stood on seven points following their third defeat.

The Red Knights thus maintained their unbeaten run. They had drawn their other two games.

Al Duhail defeated Qatar SC 2-1, Al Wakrah 4-2 and Al Shahania 1-0, but were held by Al Arabi and Al Rayyan by an identical 1-1 score.

Al Duhail, coached by Portuguese Rui Faria, dominated Al Sailiya right throughout in their bid to stay in strong contention for the title.

Khaled Mohammed (24th minute) and Mohanad Ali (90th minute) scored for the winners.

Abdulrahman Mohammed scored Al Sailiya’s goal in the 34th minute.

After Khaled put Al Duhail ahead with a long-ranger, Al Sailiya’s Iranian striker Karim Ansari drew a fine save from Al Duhail goalkeeper Amine Lecomte.

The deadlock remained until the last minute of regular time before Mohanad Ali, returning from an injury, struck the winning goal.  

Al Duhail missed the services of Ismail Mohammed and Asim Madibo due to injuries.
