Abdelaziz Hatem led the charge with a double as Al Rayyan fought back brilliantly to defeat Al Ahli 3-1 in Week 5 of the 2019-20 QNB Stars League at the Al Gharafa Stadium on Saturday.

Abdelaziz scored in the 88th and 90+3 minutes. Yacine Brahimi was Al Rayyan’s other scorer (90+5).

Abdulrasheed Ibrahim scored Al Ahli’s goal in the 58th minute.

Al Rayyan moved to nine points with their second victory. Al Ahli stayed on six points.

Abdelaziz Hatem thus continued his good form, having joined Al Rayyan from Al Gharafa at the start of this season.

After Al Ahli took the lead and looked as if they would hang on to it, it took Al Rayyan three late goals to put it past their rivals.

Al Rayyan attacked more in the first half, but were unlucky not to have been on target. Mohammed Juma was the livewire among The Lions’ ranks and Ahmed Abdelmaksoud, Rodrigo Tabata and Abdelaziz Hatem all narrowly missed the mark.

For Al Ahli, Abel Mathias and Nabil El Zahr made attempts at the goal.

After Abdulrasheed put The Brigadiers ahead around the hour mark, Tabata sent a free-kick narrowly over the bar.

Al Ahli were crestfallen to have conceded thrice when they were cruising to a famous victory, with Abdelaziz Hatem and Brahimi making the most of opportunities.
