The 2020-21 season QNB Stars League concluded with Week 22 (Final Round) action, held on Friday, 9th April, and Saturday, 10th April. As many as 21 goals were scored across the six matches that threw up keen contests and rousing results.
The Week 22 results were:
Al Sadd bt Qatar SC 3-0
Al Duhail bt Al Ahli 4-0
Al Rayyan drew Al Khor 1-1
Al Arabi bt Al Sailiya 3-1
Umm Salal lost to Al Gharafa 1-5
Al Kharaitiyat lost to Al Wakrah 0-2
Al Sadd defeated Qatar SC 3-0 to earn the distinction of becoming the champions with an unbeaten record. The Wolves finished with 60 points from 19 victories and three draws.
Qatar SC ended up in sixth position with 32 points (nine victories, five draws and eight defeats).
In fact, Al Sadd, Al Duhail and Al Rayyan had ensured the first, second and third place respectively heading into the final round.
Al Duhail defeated Al Ahli 4-0 to finish with 47 points (15 wins, two draws and five defeats). Al Ahli concluded their campaign in fifth place with 33 points (10 wins, three draws and nine defeats).
Al Rayyan played out a 1-1 draw with Al Khor and ended up with 35 points (10 wins, five draws and seven defeats).
Al Khor, placed 11th with 17 points (three wins, eight draws and 11 defeats), will play the relegation play-off with Second Division runners-up.
Al Gharafa made the biggest achievement from Week 22 as they defeated Umm Salal 5-1 to finish fourth in the QNB Stars League standings.
Al Gharafa and Al Ahli both finished with 33 points, but the former maintained a better goal difference (+7 as against Al Ahli’s -10) to climb from sixth to fourth position. Al Gharafa recorded 10 wins, three draws and nine defeats.
Umm Salal were 10th with 21 points (five wins, six draws and 11 defeats).
Al Arabi beat Al Sailiya by a 3-1 margin to end their campaign in seventh spot with 29 points (eight victories, five draws and nine defeats).
Al Sailiya took up the ninth position with 26 points (seven wins, five draws and 10 defeats).
Al Sailiya and Al Wakrah, who beat Al Kharaitiyat 2-0, had the same number of points, but Al Wakrah, with a better goal difference of -10 compared to Al Sailiya’s -14, were placed ahead (eighth position).
Al Wakrah registered seven victories, five draws and 10 defeats.
Al Kharaitiyat (four victories and 18 defeats) were already relegated to the Second Division after Week 21. They finished with 12 points.
