Al Shahania finished their campaign on a high as they leapfrogged Al Gharafa in the QNB Stars League table, thanks to a 3-0 victory over their rivals in a Week 22 action at the Al Gharafa Stadium on Saturday.

Al Shahania's goals were scored by Kesse Amangoua in the 16th minute, and Ramin Rezaeian in the 27th and 90+1 minutes.

Mehdi Taremi netted Al Gharafa's lone goal in the 59th minute by converting a penalty.

Amangoua opened the scoring as he powered through the Al Gharafa defence before rounding the keeper and scoring via an unfortunate deflection from Diogo Amado.

With Al Shahania in the ascendency, they were able to double their lead on the counter-attack when Amangoua raced through the midfield before supplying a wonderful through ball for Ramin to slot home.

Prior to the break, the two-goal cushion was nearly increased, but Luciano Vazquez saw his shot fly marginally over.

The home side was in control of the match. However, Al Gharafa were given a lifeline as Rebin Adhemat was adjudged to have handled a shot from Ahmed Abdimotaal in the area. Mehdi Taremi saw his spot kick saved, but VAR demanded a re-take with the keeper encroaching too early and Taremi made no mistake the second time.

Searching for an equaliser, Al Gharafa were undone in second-half stoppage time as Ramin raced clear and lashed the ball past the outstretched fingers of Yousef Ali to seal all three points for Al Shahania.
