Al Ahli and Al Khor played out a 1-1 draw in Week 22 of the QNB Stars League at the Al Arabi Stadium on Saturday.

Both goals came off penalties.

Al Ahli stayed in the fifth position with 34 points. The Brigadiers missed out on the prestigious top-four finish as Al Sailiya and Al Rayyan both won their games on the night, against Al Kharaitiyat (5-2) and Qatar SC (4-3) respectively.

Above all, Al Khor did themselves a big favour as they stayed in the top flight.

Thiago Bezerra put Al Khor ahead in the 22nd minute, making no mistake with a penalty. Al Ahli replied in the 31st minute when Omid Ebrahimi converted from the spot, by sending Al Khor goalkeeper Mohammed Al Bakri the wrong way, after referee Salman Falahi awarded a penalty for a foul on Mohsine Moutaouli.

Al Ahli moved to 34 points and Al Khor 20.

Al Khor were in the fight for survival along with Qatar SC and Al Kharaitiyat. They might have taken the lead, but it was Al Ahli who had an upper hand as the game wore on.

Meshaal Abdullah had a goal ruled offside in the 76th minute. And Moutaouli missed a one-on-one with goalkeeper Al Bakri deep into the match.
