The 2019-20 season QNB Stars League’s Week 21 matches will be played on Thursday, 13th August, and Friday, 14th August, with three matches on each day. The Al Janoub and Al Sadd Stadiums will continue to host the games.
The fixtures are Al Sailiya vs Al Arabi (16:00, Al Janoub Stadium), Al Ahli vs Al Wakrah (19:30, Al Janoub Stadium), Qatar SC vs Al Sadd (19:30, Al Sadd Stadium) on Thursday, Umm Salal vs Al Gharafa (16:00, Al Janoub Stadium), Al Shahania vs Al Rayyan (19:30, Al Janoub Stadium) and Al Duhail vs Al Khor (Al Sadd Stadium) on Friday.
The games will be fought more keenly as the kick-off times and venues of matches for the final week (22) will be finalised later based on the results of Week 21.
There will be simultaneous kick-offs on both days.
The positions in the table remained unchanged ever since the QNB Stars League resumed after a long break with Week 18 action.
The battle for title further hotted up last week after leaders Al Duhail were beaten by reigning champions Al Sadd. Now, only one point separates Al Duhail (46) and Al Rayyan (45).
Al Duhail face Al Khor (11th with 16 points), while Al Rayyan play Al Shahania (bottom of the table with 15 points).
Al Duhail and Al Rayyan would not wish to lose a single point, whereas Al Khor and Al Shahania are fighting hard to avoid relegation.
Third-placed Al Sadd (41 points) are up against Qatar SC (ninth with 19 points).
Al Gharafa (fourth with 32 points), already assured of the fourth place following their 2-2 draw with Al Khor in Week 20 and a berth in the Qatar Cup as well as possible play-off place in next year’s AFC Champions League, take on Umm Salal (10th with 17 points).
Umm Salal are also battling for survival.
The clash between Al Sailiya and A Arabi will be noted more as both teams are on same number of points (25) and the latter are placed fifth on better goal difference.
Al Ahli (eighth with 20 points) meet Al Wakrah (seventh with 24 points) in the other match. Both sides will be eager to improve their position.
