Al Rayyan produced an injury-time goal to play out a fighting 2-2 draw against Al Sailiya in Week 21 of the QNB Stars League at the Al Ahli Stadium on Thursday.

Al Sailiya have 35 points after 21 rounds while Al Rayyan have 34.

Gelmin Rivas scored the injury-time goal for Al Rayyan.

After a few brisk exchanges in which Al Rayyan’s Mohammed Alaeldin was booked with a yellow card, the match came to life in the 21st minute when Al Sailiya produced the opening goal.

Majdi Siddiq fired a bullet after receiving a cross from Moroccan striker Rachid Tiberkanine. Two Al Rayyan defenders looked helpless as the ball crashed into the net at high speed.

Four minutes later, Al Rayyan produced the equaliser after Lucca Borges was brought down by Nadir Belhadj and the referee awarded Al Rayyan the penalty. Captain Rodrigo Tabata easily converted from the spot.

Six minutes from half-time, Al Rayyan’s South Korean midfielder Koh Myong-Jin fired a shot at the goal, but Al Sailiya keeper Mubarak Khater blocked it.

Al Sailiya took the lead for a second time in the 50th minute when Adel Bader Ahmed found the net from close range to put pressure on Al Rayyan. Abdulqader Ilyas, standing close to the Al Rayyan goalmouth, failed to deflect the ball into the net following a cross from the wing.

However, Ahmed, who was on the edge of the box, fired a bullet that cashed into the net leaving Al Rayyan keeper Rebin Sulaka out of position to effect a save.

Four minutes from time, striker Sebastian Soria jumped high to head home a long cross, but failed to find the net from close range.

Just two minutes into injury time and Rivas found the net with a slick close-range shot.
