The high-profile Qatar Clasico between Al Rayyan and Al Sadd highlighted the 2019-20 QNB Stars League’s Week 17 fixtures, played on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 5th, 6th and 7th March, 2020, with two matches on each day.
Two of the five games ended in draws and as many as 16 goals were scored.

Umm Salal drew Al Shahania 2-2
Al Gharafa bt Al Wakrah 2-1
Al Ahli drew Qatar SC 2-2
Al Arabi bt Al Khor 1-0
Al Sailiya lost to Al Duhail 1-2
Al Rayyan bt Al Sadd 1-0
The Qatar Clasico, between two teams with a large and passionate fan base, lived up to its top billing, with spectators turning up in large numbers to cheer the players on.
Defender Franck Kom scored the only goal of the thriller as Al Rayyan (38 points) kept pace with leaders Al Duhail (42 points). Al Sadd lagged behind as they stood on 32 points with only five games remaining.
The Wolves will rue the seven crucial points they dropped in the last three games, having been held by Umm Salal and Al Arabi.
The standings remained unchanged but for one position, just like in the previous week. Al Arabi displaced Al Sailiya from the fifth position with 24 points following their 1-0 victory Al Khor, who remained on 14 points.
Tunisian striker Hamdi Harbaoui scored Al Arabi’s winning goal.
Al Sailiya slipped after being beaten by Al Duhail 2-1 and stood on 23 points.
Han Kwang-Song and Karim Boudiaf scored for Al Duhail, while Mbarak Boussoufa pulled one back late for Al Sailiya through a penalty.
Al Gharafa stayed fourth in the table with 28 points. They defeated Al Wakrah 2-1, with Sofiane Hanni (penalty) and Jonathan Kodjia netting their goals.
Iliass Bel Hassani scored for Al Wakrah, who remained seventh with 19 points.
Umm Salal earned a crucial point in their bid to avoid relegation when they played out a 2-2 draw with Al Shahania, placed at the bottom with 10 points.
Raul Becerra scored Umm Salal’s both goals as they now have 14 points, while Kesse Amanguoa and Ramin Rezaein found the mark for Al Shahania.
Similarly, Al Ahli (eighth with 19 points) and Qatar SC (ninth with 17 points) were locked in a 2-2 draw.
Kayke Rodrigues contributed a brace to Qatar SC, but their winless run continued in the second leg of 2019-20 QNB Stars League.
Hernan Perez and Nabil El Zhar (penalty) were Al Ahli’s scorers.
