Al Rayyan blanked Qatar SC 2-0 in Week 11 of the QNB Stars League at the Qatar SC Stadium on Saturday.

Musa Haroon (16th minute) and Sebastian Soria (58th) scored the goals.

Al Rayyan now have 21 points. Qatar SC remained on 11.

Al Rayyan, who last week occupied the second position in standings, thus stayed on course for the title as the first leg came to a close.

The Lions had advantage in ball possession in the first half, but The Kings made it slightly in their favour (51 per cent) as the match ended despite the defeat.

Haroon took Al Rayyan ahead by heading in a Rodrigo Tabata corner.

With Cameroonian great Samuel Eto’o and bright young prospect Ahmed Moein out of action, Qatar SC found it tough to make inroads.

Yet, they created chances. Syrian striker Osama Omari hit wide of the mark and Mohammed Jabri shot over the crossbar. Ali Jasemi too got an opportunity before the teams went into the break.

Qatar SC put up an improved performance in the latter session. Brazilian striker Lucca Borges came up with a header off Mohammed Juma cross, only to be thwarted by goalkeeper Jassim Al Hail.

Al Rayyan doubled the lead when Soria evaded the offside trap and beat Al Hail after Koh Myong-Jin fed him with a defence-splitting through pass.

Koh was at it again in the 65th minute, but this time, Lucca and then Soria failed to connect his cross at the goalmouth.

Qatar SC’s Rami Fayez, who returned from an injury layoff, Ali Awad and Hussein Ali all tried their best as the game wore on. However, the scoreline remained unchanged.
