After the end of 2018-19 season, all QNB Stars League clubs are looking at ways to avoid the drawbacks and rectify the mistakes ahead of the new season.

As part of coverage of the league championship that went by, the Qatar Stars League website analyses all 12 teams’ performance in the 2018-19 QNB Stars League, in the order of their final standings.

AL SAILIYA

Al Sailiya finished third in the 2018-19 QNB Stars League in a deserving manner. They achieved their highest-ever standing in the Qatar league through hard work, perseverance and diligence combined with technical stability.

Above all, they reaped the rewards for putting up consistent performances.

The team management yet again reposed faith on long-standing Tunisian coach Sami Trabelsi and that played a key role as The Peregrines recorded many positive results.

Stability was their forte and the players exhibited excellent team spirit and harmony.

At the beginning of the season, Al Sailiya had strengthened their ranks. They roped in Syrian professional player Fahd Al Yousef, Brazilian Mauricio Junior and top  Moroccan striker Rachid Tiberkanine from Al Kharaitiyat, while Algerian Nadir Belhadj stayed.

They also signed striker Abdelkadir Ilyas and he gelled well with Tiberkanine and team-mates. Players like Saoud Al Khater, Abdulkarim Salem Al Ali and Mohammed Mudathar too came good for Al Sailiya.

Trabelsi succeeded in finding players, a good mix of youth and experience. All that resulted in the team earning a creditable finish in the QNB Stars League, behind Al Sadd and Al Duhail.

Al Sailiya ended up on 38 points (12 wins, two draws and eight defeats). They had a goal difference of 12, having scored 38 goals and conceded 26.
