Qatar international Akram Afif beat off his Al Sadd strike partner Baghdad Bounedjah and Al Duhail forward Almoez Ali to win the coveted award for the best player.

He is one of the most prominent and influential players presently in the game and has been scoring goals consistently.

Akram, who was a key member of Qatar’s Asian Cup-winning squad early this year, and Al Duhail’s Moroccan striker Yousef El Arabi emerged as the second-best scorers in the 2018-19 QNB Stars League with 26 goals from 22 matches.

Al Sadd’s Algerian striker Baghdad Bounedjah topped the chart with a record 39 goals.

Akram excelled in giving assists too as he set the stage for 15 goals, according to the QNB Stars League’s official statistics and figures provider STATS.

Akram, born on 18th November, 1996, had become the first Qatari player to play in the Spanish league when he signed for Villarreal. He also played for Sporting Gijon in Spain and Belgian club KAS Eupen.
