The 2019-20 season Ooredoo Cup’s fifth and final round action witnessed 22 goals (14 in Group A and eight in Group B). Matches were played at the Al Khor, Al Wakrah and Al Shamal Stadiums, just like in Round 4.

Only one game ended in draw, while two were high-scoring matches.

Group A matches were played on Friday, 6th December, and Group B games on Saturday, 7th December.

The Ooredoo Cup, formerly QSL Cup, provides younger players with more playing time and exposure. The tournament, which has a group-cum-knockout format, offers new opportunities for sponsors, partners and supporters to highlight their brands.

The top four sides from each group progress to the knockout quarterfinals.

Group A

Al Ahli, Al Wakrah and Al Rayyan had sealed their spots in the quarterfinals after the fourth round. Al Sadd booked the remaining berth with a 6-0 victory over Al Rayyan.

In the process, Al Sadd displaced Al Rayyan from the third spot in the group on better goal difference.

Al Sadd and Al Rayyan both ended their campaign on seven points, but the former were placed third (+3 as against Al Rayyan’s -1).

Al Sadd scored 15 goals and conceded 12, while Al Rayyan scored nine goals and conceded 10.

Al Ahli blanked Al Wakrah by an identical 6-0 margin. The Brigadiers stayed atop the group with 12 points, while Al Wakrah stood second with eight points.

Umm Salal beat Al Shahania 2-0, but they finished fifth and sixth with six points and one point respectively.

Group B

Al Khor, Qatar SC and Al Arabi had progressed to the quarterfinals from Group B after the Round 4 action. And it was the question of which team would seal the fourth quarterfinal berth.

Al Gharafa advanced to the last eight with a 2-1 win over Al Sailiya. Al Gharafa finished fourth with five points and Al Sailiya last with one point.

Al Khor defeated Qatar SC 1-0 and they ended up first and second in the group with 13 and 10 points respectively.

Al Duhail too had a chance to progress, but they were held to a 2-2 draw by Al Arabi. The Red Knights finished fifth with three points.
