The Ooredoo Cup Round 3 witnessed exciting encounters and thrilling results. As many as 21 goals (11 in Group A and 10 in Group B) were scored. Matches were played at the Al Ahli, Al Wakrah and Al Khor Stadiums, the same venues which hosted Round 2 fixtures.

Four of the six games ended in draws.

Group B matches were played on Friday, 22nd November, and Group A games on Saturday, 23rd November.

Group A

In Group A, Al Rayyan stayed on top with seven points despite being held 2-2 by Umm Salal, who pumped in two goals very late into the game through Yannick Sagbo and Murad Naji.

Al Rayyan were cruising to victory after goals from Gabriel Mercado and Rodrigo Tabata.

It was a wonderful performance by Umm Salal, who fought with 10 men from the 58th minute after Ali Mohammed was red-carded following his foul on Sebastian Soria.

Al Ahli moved from third to second position with six points after recording a thrilling 4-3 win over Al Sadd.

Abel Mathias (double), Mohammed Diame and Parou Babou Sadeeqi were Al Ahli’s scorers.

Moustafa Tareq, Rami Suhail and Saoud Ibrahim Al Nasr were Al Sadd’s goal getters. The Wolves stayed fourth with three points despite the defeat.

Al Shahania and Al Wakrah played out a goalless draw in the other game.

Al Wakrah slipped from second to third spot with five points, whereas Al Shahania were rooted to the bottom with one point.

Group B

In Group B, Al Khor displaced Qatar SC at the top following the former’s 3-1 victory over reigning champions Al Gharafa and Qatar SC’s 1-1 draw with Al Arabi.

Al Khor and Qatar SC have seven points each, but The Knights were placed higher on better goal difference (+9 (11 goals for and two against) as against Qatar SC’s +7 (eight goals for and one against).

Tiago Bezerra (double) and Helal Mohammed scored Al Khor’s goals, while Abdulghani Muneer found the target for Al Gharafa.

In-form striker Kayke Rodriguez had put Qatar SC ahead, but Abdulla Marafy levelled the score for Al Arabi late into the game.

Al Arabi are third with five points.

Al Duhail, who drew 2-2 with Al Sailiya, are fourth with two points. They moved up one place.

Serigne Mbodji and Meshaal Al Shammari scored for Al Sailiya, while Paolo Edmilson and Ahmed Yasser were on target for Al Duhail.

Al Gharafa and Al Sailiya have one point each.
