Al Khor handed Al Duhail a 7-0 defeat in Round 2 (Group B) of the 2019-20 Ooredoo Cup at the Al Khor Stadium on Saturday.

In front of home fans, Al Khor rode on a five-goal effort from Said Mohamed Brahmi (11th, 50th, 54th, 61st and 84th minutes) and a double from Ahmed Hassan Al Mohannadi (14th minute and 32nd-minute penalty).

It was Al Khor’s first victory in this season’s tournament as they had drawn 1-1 with Al Arabi in Round 1. The Knights have four points, while Al Duhail, who had drawn 2-2 with Al Gharafa earlier, have two points.

It was a repeat clash between Al Duhail and Al Khor at the same venue in successive weeks, with the former winning in Week 10 of the QNB Stars League, which has taken a long break.

Al Khor were rewarded for their efforts with three goals in the first half and four in the second. They got the penalty for a foul on Ahmed Hassan by Al Duhail’s Ahmed Al Khuwalid and the former converted from the spot.

On the other hand, Al Duhail, who are leading the 2019-20 QNB Stars League table with an unbeaten record, could not find their footing as they were the more affected side due to the absence of senior players.

Even the three substitutions they made in the second half did not help their cause either.

The result was definitely a consolation for Al Khor, who are struggling in 10th place in the league.
