Al Sadd and Al Wakrah will open the 2019-20 season Ooredoo Cup action by facing off in a Round 1, Group A match at the Al Ahli Stadium on Friday.

Both teams will be eager to start off their campaign on a winning note.

Al Sadd and Al Wakrah faced off in Week 1 of this season’s QNB Stars League, with the former winning by a 4-1 margin. Al Wakrah are the promoted side in the league competition.

The match is expected to be fought keenly even though Al Sadd will miss some players due to their international duties.

It will be a good opportunity for both sides to prepare themselves for tough times. The match should specially benefit Al Sadd ahead of their AFC Champions League second-leg semifinal against Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh on 22nd October.

Xavi Hernandez-coached Al Sadd will be without suspended players Baghdad Bounedjah and Abdulkarim Hassan against Al Hilal. The Wolves had lost the first leg 1-4.

Al Wakrah’s Spanish coach Marquez Lopez is sure to utilise all his resources in their bid to achieve victory.
