Al Ahli face Al Wakrah in Week 12 of the 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League at the Al Thumama Stadium on Saturday, January 11, 2025. The kick-off is at 6.30pm.

The match is expected to witness excitement and rivalry between the two teams given their positions in the standings. Al Ahli are third in the standings with 22 points, the same as that of Al Sadd who are in second place on better goal difference, and behind leaders Al Duhail (25 points).

Al Ahli have so far scored six wins out of their total of 11 matches played, while four of their games ended in draws and they lost one match. The Brigadiers also had a 2-2 draw against Al Sadd in Week 11, maintaining their formidable presence in the top four.

Al Ahli presented a wonderful performance in the first leg of the league imposing themselves strongly and with a consistent level producing distinctive results under the leadership of Croatian coach Igor Biscan, who would now hope to begin the second leg with more vigour and at the expense of Al Wakrah.

On the other hand, the match is crucial for Al Wakrah, who would be looking to bounce back in the second leg, especially having appointed Swedish coach Poya Asbaghi.

Al Wakrah are currently ranked seventh with 14 points, gained from four wins and two draws. They suffered five defeats, the last of which was 0-3 against Al Shamal in the 11th round.

The Blue Wave would be looking forward to stop the loss of points to shore up their place in the standings.

Al Wakrah played a strong match in the QSL Cup semifinal against Al Duhail, which was a good rehearsal for their technical staff to ensure the readiness of the team that has gone through technical and physical training and friendly games during the break.

The duo of Jacinto Dala and Ricardo Gomez will be Al Wakrah’s main hope to strike against Al Ahli and to register their fifth victory of this season.

On the other hand, Al Ahli will be counting on the brilliance of their striker Oumar Sekou, who has been performing strongly this season, and which prompted the club’s management to renew his contract for five more seasons, in addition to that of their German star Julian Draxler - until 2028, and Eric Exposito, Driss Fettouhi, and other distinguished players.
