Al Duhail will meet Qatar SC in Week 12 of the 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League at the Abdullah Bin Khalifa Stadium of Al Duhail club on Sunday, January 12, 2025. The kick-off at 4.15pm.
Despite the contrast in their placings in the standings, both teams go into the match with shared ambitions of clinching the valuable three points and to regain the winning touch after their recent losses in Week 11, where Al Duhail went down to Al Khor and Qatar SC were beaten by Al Rayyan, both with a similar margin of 1-2.
Qatar SC are in the penultimate and 11th spot in the standings with 10 points, while Al Duhail are the leaders having 25 points. That notwithstanding, the match is expected to be closely fought.
Al Duhail seek to maintain their lead and move further away at the top, while Qatar SC aim to return to positive results in a bid to improve their position.
The previous clash between the two teams in the first leg had seen Al Duhail win 6-1. The Red Knights would look for an encore, taking advantage of the rivals’ circumstances. Al Duhail coach Christophe Galtier would surely want his side to make a roaring start to the second leg by scoring a win and reaching 28 points.
The coach during the team’s recent training sessions focused on ensuring readiness of the players, despite the absence of Sultan Al Breik following an injury he sustained during the recent 26th Arabian Gulf Cup.
Galtier would rely on a distinguished group of players, most notably Luis Alberto, Almoez Ali, Karim Boudiaf, Homam Al Ameen and Michael Olunga to form the strike force.
Qatar SC’s Moroccan coach Youssef Safri prepared the players through training and friendly matches during the recent break of the league season. He must have also closely studied the strengths and weaknesses of Al Duhail and will push his best available lineup that includes Javier Martinez, Ben Malango, Badr Benoun, Ibrahim Majed, Moataz Majed and Ahmed Abdelkader.
The contest is challenging for both teams as Al Duhail seek to extend their lead and Qatar SC look to wriggle out of the danger zone, making it a highly-anticipated and exciting one.
