Al Wakrah coach Ali Rahma Al Marri spoke to the media ahead of their 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League Week 11 match against Al Shamal.
“We are returning to participate in the league championship after the break during which we participated in the AFC Champions League Two and thank God we achieved the goal of qualifying for the next stage. Therefore we will return to the league in search of achieving victory and collecting the three points in this difficult match.
“Al Wakrah aim, of course, to return to the top four, but this does not prevent me from acknowledging the difficulty of the competition between all teams in view of the very close level.
“I do not deny that we benefited morally from the early qualification in the AFC Champions League Two before the last round, but we have completely turned that chapter and our focus is on the match against Al Shamal so that we can regain the memory of victories and maintain our full chances of returning to the top four,” said Al Marri.
Al Wakrah defender Alexander Scholz said, “We do not know what to expect from Al Shamal after changing the coach, so we focused on ourselves and our readiness for this match. Al Shamal have a very strong attacking line and has a legendary striker and they have a large goal tally that confirms their attacking strength, so the strength of this team lies in its attacking line, but our job is to stop them and prevent them from reaching our goal. I confirm that we have the ability to achieve this goal even though they have other players capable of making a difference.”
