After Al Shamal announced the termination of contract with Portuguese coach Nuno Almeida and assigning the task to coach Ahmed Kanu, the latter spoke to the media ahead of their 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League Week 11 match against Al Wakrah.

“We are waiting for a difficult match against a strong team that includes players with tremendous capabilities in most of the departments and presented good performances this season, so it is necessary for us to be prepared to face them in the best possible way.

“Al Shamal also have players at the highest level and we trust in their ability to achieve what is required and present their best in order to achieve victory in the Al Wakrah match, especially since they are able to make a difference.

“We are ready for the match and the players’ insistence on doing their utmost to achieve the desired result, which is victory and collecting the three points, is laudable,” said Ahmed Kano.

Al Shamal player Abdulaziz Mohammed said, “We are waiting for a strong match against a very distinguished team that has presented good levels this season.

“We are determined to achieve a positive result and collect the three points, which is our main goal in this strong match.
