Al Ahli coach Igor Biscan Mejia spoke to the media ahead of their 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League Week 6 match against Al Shamal.

“Al Ahli showed a good level in the last match against Al Arabi, but we did not succeed in getting full points despite our lead in the result until the last moments, and we deserved to get full points from the field instead of a draw.

“Facing Al Shamal will not be easy, but the team must be more positive in dealing with the match in order to show the best technical level and achieve victory and continue on the path of collecting points. The team has many capabilities that call for optimism, especially since the start of the league we have played with a clear identity and a tradition based on work and effort on the field, which enabled us to collect 11 points that placed us in second place in the standings.

“Al Shamal will be strong competitors and that outperforming them will not be easy, like all matches there is no easy match. Al Ahli will be different from the last match and will make every effort to achieve victory and resume the path of victories and collect points,” said Biscan.

Al Ahli player Oumar Sekou said, “As one group, we play to achieve victories. My first thought is for the team to win and translate the efforts of my colleagues in the matches into goals, so I see that it is the duty of everyone to play their role in defence and attack together. Collective performance is always what distinguishes Al Ahli and brings us closer to positive results.”
