Qatar SC coach Helio Sousa spoke to the media ahead of their 2023-2024 season Expo Stars League Week 10 match against Muaither.

“We started our last match against Al Shamal well, but the opponents were able to score from the first opportunity they got, and after that we were able to get many chances, but we were not successful in translating them into goals.

“We need more focus and in general we tried to make a comeback into the match even after the expulsion and playing with 10 players. We succeeded in increasing the pressure, obtaining favorable opportunities, achieving a greater percentage of possession, and reaching the goal on many occasions, but the endings were not as they should have been.

“We learned our lesson, especially since we faced a strong competitor who is characterized by physical strength and playing on counterattacks, so we must get used to this method and be ready for all possibilities. With every match, I see development in the team and we also have strengths that we must capitalize on. We must exploit everything that is positive and avoid mistakes. We have the ability to do that, but we must be strong from the beginning of the match until the last second.

“Our performance must be characterized by focus, no matter how the course of the match changes. We sometimes face situations in which we lose control and therefore we need an average of three chances to score while our competitors score from one chance. There is no doubt that we are keen to redouble our efforts,” said Sousa.

Qatar SC goalkeeper Sataa Al Abbasi said, “We feel the responsibility we have and we are striving with the technical and administrative staff to be in a better position in the standings. Regarding our previous match against Al Shamal, we played well, but we were not able to achieve victory.

“I trust my teammates to achieve a better level and win the next match, and they are worthy of the responsibility. We consider that the previous period has passed and we must work for the future. We now have four matches in which we must achieve the best results.”
