Al Thumama Stadium will host the match between Al Arabi and Al Ahli in Week 7 of the 2023-2024  season Expo Stars League on Sunday, October 29, 2023. The kick-off is at 5.30pm.

The teams are eager to secure a win and earn three points, as the match holds significant importance for both sides.

Al Ahli suffered a 2-4 defeat in the sixth round against Qatar SC. This loss marks a return to losing ways after the team managed to secure its first victory of the season in the fifth round against Muaither, with the same score by which they lost to Qatar SC.

On the other hand, Al Arabi did not play in the sixth round due to the postponement of their match against Al Sadd. The team has only achieved one victory so far, in the fifth round against Qatar SC by a 1-0 margin.

Prior to that, Al Arabi had three draws and one defeat in the first four rounds.

The technical staff of both teams are optimistic that the upcoming match will serve as a fresh start for them to improve their positions in the table. Al Arabi, currently in seventh place with only six points, are hoping to make a comeback.

Al Arabi coach Younes Ali is counting on the offensive prowess of Yousef Msakni and Omar Al Somah to score against Al Ahli goalkeeper Yazan Naim, who has been performing exceptionally well. However, Al Ahli’s defence has been a cause for concern, having conceded 19 goals so far, making it the second-weakest defence in the league, after Muaither (20 goals).

Al Ahli are currently facing challenges due to a difficult start to the season. The team is currently in 11th place, just one position away from the bottom, with only three points (from one win and five defeats). It may be noted that Al Shamal and Al Markhiya are also tied with Al Ahli in points.

Al Ahli had recently replaced Montenegrin coach Nebojsa Jovovic with Pedro Miguel. After a recent defeat, the Portuguese openly acknowledged the mistakes made by the team, which led to the heavy loss.

Consequently, the team recognizes the need for significant improvements in performance, particularly in terms of concentration and defensive strength.

Both Qatar SC and Al Ahli boast a roster of skilled players, foreign and local professionals, and the match is expected to be a thriller.
