Umm Salal face Qatar SC in Round 2 (Group B) of the 2023-2024 season Ooredoo Cup at the Saoud bin Abdulrahman Stadium of Al Wakrah club on Sunday, October 8, 2023. The kick-off is at 8pm.

Both teams performed exceptionally well in the first round, where Qatar SC defeated Al Ahli 2-1 with goals from substitutes Ali Awad and Abdulrahman Al Korbi. Moroccan Youssef Safri, who has now been replaced by Yousef Al Noobi, was in charge The Kings in that match.

Umm Salal, in their opener, defeated Al Wakrah 5-0. In this game, Umm Salal coach Patrice Carteron gave opportunities to a number of players who do not get to participate mainly.

Al Arabi and Muaither are the other teams in the group.

Umm Salal’s scorers were Andy Delort, who has been brilliant with the team in the league, Khaled Waleed, Abdullah Khaled, Ali Afif and Mashaal Al Shammari.

Both teams have mixed fortunes in the league, as Umm Salal have been providing strong performances since the start of season under Carteron and they are placed sixth in the table with eight points (two wins, as many draws and one defeat).

It may be recalled that Umm Salal had beaten Al Shamal 3-1 before the league went into the break.

On the contrary, Qatar SC are languishing at 11th place with only two points after five rounds of league action. They have yet to register a win.

Al Noobi hopes the team will regain its form in Ooredoo Cup and beat The Orange Fortress, and return to the league in high spirit.
