Qatar SC coach Youssef Safri spoke to the media ahead of their 2023-2024 season Expo Stars League Week 2 match against Al Rayyan.
“The match is of great importance and achieving a positive result is our biggest concern after being tied in the first round. In general, the team camp is full of enthusiasm and we are ready to fight Al Rayyan. As for the players’ readiness, it is possible to make some changes until the last moment. Circumstances may change, but the changes are not great because the important thing is to maintain the basic strength of the group and everyone is ready to represent the team the best way.
“There is no doubt that our match against Al Gharafa was one of the strongest games in the first round, especially since it witnessed eight goals. Also, some details made things difficult for us and we made some mistakes and lost focus sometimes, but in general we played with enthusiasm until the last minute and it was a clear effort from the players. We seek to strengthen it in addition to our efforts to correct the mistakes that happened in the opening match, which represented a strong and successful start,” said Safri.
Qatar SC player Bashar Resan said, “Our focus is on winning and benefiting from the lessons of last season when we lost points that could have been earned. In the Al Rayyan match, I hope that the fans will be with us as they used to be. The fans are a great motivation for us and we, in turn, look forward to provide performance and results that please them.
“We had made the best start to our league campaign and it was possible to achieve victory over Al Gharafa, but some mistakes occurred and that happens in football. It was a strong match, where we made great efforts and we hoped to achieve victory.”
