Al Wakrah coach Marquez Lopez spoke to the media ahead of their 2021-2022 season QNB Stars League Week 18 match against Qatar SC.

“Of course, we have got back the services of some important players because they always play in the starting list in all matches. Now it is good that all players are ready to play and I am very happy not only for the returning players, but for all the players who played in the last match.

“I have great confidence in all members of the team and I believe that the levels and results presented by the team during the current season's competitions reflect the magnitude of the efforts made, the efficiency of all our players and their determination to always provide the best.

“Absences do not happen only to Al Wakrah, all teams go through such situations. Indeed, there are two consecutive matches in which I lost players in the defence, but there are substitutes for them, so I am not afraid,” said Marquez.

Al Wakrah player Omar Ali said, “Our performance this season confirms that we are ready to face any team.

“We are doing our best and our level is constantly rising, as you can see that we have won most matches and we are currently in third place. Therefore, we can say that, God-willing, we can win against Qatar SC.

“I believe that we are able to maintain our position in the top four because we have some matches remaining and we are currently in third place. We can win most of the remaining matches, because we are in a good level of readiness, so I believe in my team and the team’s motivation is currently very high.”
