Al Wakrah coach Marquez Lopez spoke to the media ahead of their 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League Week 4 match against Qatar SC.

“Our preparations for the fourth round match did not differ much from the preparations for the previous matches. The most prominent difference is limited to the time period preceding this game.

“I saw the Qatar SC team in three matches and I think the team is more physically fit. The team is physically strong and well organized, and the most important thing on the field is that they play well, so I think the match will be difficult for us.

“The reasons that led to our strong start in the league are due to the players playing well. Their mentality has counted, but the most important thing is the players and their performance. We can win or lose or draw, but the mentality and performance of the players are very good,” said Marquez.

Al Wakrah player Trent Sainsbury said, “Every week we train as usual to get the three points and yes we have more time for training this week, and this makes us more prepared to get the three points.

“Adapting to my new team was not easy, of course. We have consistency in the back line of the team, our defence is strong and I get to know everyone outside the field gradually as well. I think the line of defence is good in general, and my assessment is that it can be six and a half out of 10.”
