Al Gharafa and Umm Salal played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in Week 6 of the 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League at the Qatar SC Stadium on Tuesday.

Jonathan Kodjia scored Umm Salal’s goals (26th minute penalty and 79th minute penalty), while Ahmed Al Janehi (45+2) and Yacine Brahimi (66th minute) scored Al Gharafa’s goals.

Al Gharafa raised their tally to nine points and Umm Salal to six points.

Both teams were keen to be back on the winning path after their drawn results in the last round, where Al Gharafa played out an exciting 3-3 draw with Al Ahli and Umm Salal had a goalless draw against Al Rayyan.

Both teams fought an excellent battle in the second half even though a large number of opportunities were wasted.

In the 24th minute, Umm Salal’s first offensive attempt saw Nasser Al Nasr start from the left and penetrates into the area and is obstructed and gets a penalty kick that Kodjia converted into goal.

Umm Salal almost scored again in the 37th minute, but Abdulrahman Fayez Al Rashidi was not able to find the target.

Al Gharafa succeeded in equalizing as their livewire Yacine Brahimi cut through three defenders and crossed the ball to Al Janehi, who was bang on target.

Brahimi displayed his brilliance yet again and this time he scored himself from an acute angle.

The match came to life more after this goal.

Umm Salal were on level terms when Al Rashidi was fouled and referee Nayef Al Kadiri awarded a second penalty kick, which Kodjia converted.

The crossbar denied Umm Salal their third goal that would have been the match winner after Adel Alawi sent his shot against it.
