Al Duhail beat Qatar SC 3-0 in Week 6 of the 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League at the Al Duhail Stadium on Wednesday.

Kenyan striker Michael Olunga was the star of the match scoring a hat-trick. He struck the first goal in the very fourth minute, the second in the 42nd minute off a penalty and the third in the 66th minute.

Al Duhail thus climbed to the second place in standings with 13 points following their fourth victory. The Red Knights drew one match and lost the other.

Both teams went into the match with renewed confidence having found their winning touch in the last round, where Al Duhail beat leaders Al Arabi 3-0 and Qatar SC defeated Al Shamal 1-0.

Olunga’s superb form on the day and his team’s collective show left Qatar SC with little leeway to retaliate.

Qatar SC, however, fought hard and were unfortunate to miss a penalty strike in 65th minute. The spot-kick, taken by Bashar Rasan, was blocked by Al Duhail goalkeeper Shehab Ellethy.

Qatar SC are ninth with seven points after crashing to their third defeat. The Kings have recorded two wins and one draw.
