Al Ahli and Al Wakrah played out a 2-2 draw in Week 6 of the 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League at the Al Arabi Stadium on Wednesday.

Yazan Al Naimat (18th minute) and Ali Qaderi (60th minute) scored for Al Ahli, who were cruising towards victory when Mohamed Benyettou (81st minute) and Omid Ebrahimi (89th minute) struck for Al Wakrah.

Al Ahli and Al Wakrah now have nine and 12 points respectively.

Al Wakrah were held to a goalless draw in their last match by Al Markhiya, while Al Ahli were locked in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Al Gharafa.

Al Ahli seized the early advantage when they succeeded in taking the lead through Al Naimat off a pass from Abdulrashid Ibrahim and he beat Al Wakrah goalkeeper Saoud Al Khater.

Al Wakrah sought to equalize in the minutes that followed and their top scorer Jacinto Dala almost equalized with a powerful shot. Then, Benyettou also missed an opportunity to score in the 27th minute.

The 28th minute witnessed a goal for Al Ahli through Abdulrashid Ibrahim, but it was cancelled.

Al Ahli had an advantage in the following minutes through quick attacks even as Al Wakrah sought to equalize, but the first half ended with Al Ahli advancing by a goal.

The second half started with intense attempts by Al Wakrah to get a goal, but play was confined to the midfield.

Al Ahli managed to score the second goal on the hour mark through Qaderi off a free-kick.

Both teams made several changes.

Finally, Benyettou reduced the margin for Al Wakrah and, before long, Omid headed in a corner kick as the sides shared the spoils.
