The 2019-20 QNB Stars League Week 3 fixtures witnessed many an interesting result and abundant action. As many as 19 goals were scored in five matches, played over Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Al Sailiya vs Al Sadd fixture was postponed to 24th September due to the latter’s AFC Champions League second-leg quarterfinal against Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr in Doha, which was played on 16th September.

Al Arabi benefited the most as they climbed from third position to top with an impressive 5-1 win over Umm Salal. The Dream Team have the same number of points (seven) as Al Gharafa, who beat Qatar SC 3-1, but had the advantage of goal difference (+6 as against The Cheetahs’ +5).

Mohamed Salah Al Neel, Aron Gunnarsson, Hamdi Harbaoui and Pierre Lassoga scored for Al Arabi, who were also helped by an own goal by Umm Salal’s Adil Rhaili.

For Al Gharafa, who kept the second position, Othman Al Yahri contributed a double. Ahmed Alaaeldin was the other scorer.

Sardor Rashidov was on target for Qatar SC.

Al Duhail suffered another setback in their title bid as they were held 1-1 by Al Rayyan.

Al Duhail slipped from fourth to sixth in the table with five points, whereas Al Rayyan stood eighth with three points.

Ahmed Yasser gave Al Duhail the lead, but new recruit Franck Kom equalised for Al Rayyan.

Al Ahli moved from sixth to fourth with six points following their 3-2 victory against Al Khor.

Nabil El Zahr, Hernan Gonzalez (both through penalties) and Abel Mathias were Al Ahli’s scorers, while Ibrahim Amada and Ahmed Hammoudan were Al Khor’s scorers as The Knights fell from fifth to seventh spot.

Promoted Al Wakrah blanked Al Shahania 2-0 in other action, with Mohamed Benyettou notching both goals. The Blue Wave moved from seventh to fifth with their second victory that took their tally to six points.

Qatar SC and Al Shahania remained as the only teams yet to collect a point, the latter occupying the bottom position.

Umm Salal vs Al Arabi, Al Duhail vs Al Rayyan and Qatar SC vs Al Gharafa matches witnessed good crowd turnout.

The air-conditioned Al Janoub and Al Sadd Stadiums hosted the matches.
