Al Wakrah player Cristian Ceballos spoke to QSL Website on the 2019-20 season Media Day organised by the Qatar Stars League for QNB Stars League players.

“I feel very happy to be playing in the QNB Stars League for the first time professionally, having played in Doha almost 14 years ago in a youth tournament organised by the Aspire Academy.

“We’ve a good squad in Al Wakrah team and we all are thrilled to be playing again in the First Division (QNB Stars League). It’s only the beginning of the season, but I can say that all players are gelling well and we’re like one family. We’ve some good young players too.

“Our coach Marquez Lopez was instrumental in bringing me to Al Wakrah as I had played under him in Sint-Truiden club in Belgium. The QNB Stars League is very competitive and there’re many outstanding players this season across all teams, as always. I must admit that the facilities in Qatar are just good.

“On the competition front, we started off with a loss against Al Sadd, but we put up a spirited fight. We were 1-1 until the 74th minute. However, receiving a red card in the 15th minute, that too against a strong team, really affected our game plan. I’m happy that I could give the assist for our goal.

“We’re looking forward to our next game against Qatar SC. Generally, I’ve felt football fans across the world are following the QNB Stars League, especially because of the country’s hosting of the FIFA World Cup in 2022, and that’s an extra motivation for the players,” said Ceballos.
