Al Sailiya’s Karim Ansari spoke to QSL Website on the 2019-20 season Media Day organised by the Qatar Stars League for QNB Stars League players.

“I’ve played in many countries, like Spain, Greece and England. But I’ve found it’s a totally different experience playing in Qatar. The level of competition in the QNB Stars League is high. Many good players with much experience have come in from known leagues across the world.

“It’s going to be a difficult season for all clubs. There’re many things to prove for the teams.

“Overall, football in Qatar is improving day by day. This country has the best team in Asia. I’ve represented my country Iran in the last two FIFA World Cups in Brazil and Russia. I’ve been playing against the Qatari players for the last 10 years, so I know them and this country well. Many of them are my good friends.

“The league championship in Qatar is also improving. The facilities and organisation are also very good. And the World Cup in 2022 in really going to be fantastic, going by the preparations.

“In terms of representing Al Sailiya, this is a spirited side. Some players have changed, but the core of the team is same. It has good coach, players, management and staff.

“Last season, we finished third in the league. This time, we’re working to achieve our goal, that is to collect full points from every match.

“We learned a lot from our last game, which we drew with Al Khor. The squad was only getting set and we’ll be much better in the coming games,” said Karim.
