Qatar’s Al Sadd will play host to Iran’s Sepahan in their 2020 AFC Champions League Group D match on Tuesday, 18th February. The kick-off is at 18:35 Doha time at the Al Sadd Stadium.

Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr and the UAE’s Al Ain are the other teams in the group.

Al Sadd were held to a 2-2 draw by Al Nassr in the opening round in Riyadh, so The Wolves would be more keen to register their first victory, especially in front of home fans, to get their campaign well on track.

Sepahan had started their campaign with a 4-0 victory over Al Ain, so Al Sadd know they have their task cut out. They have many star players in their ranks, but they will miss suspended left-back Abdelkarim Hassan.

Al Sadd are doing well on the domestic front. Xavi Hernandez-coached side has already clinched two titles this season (Sheikh Jassim Cup and Qatar Cup).

Currently third in the 2019-20 QNB Stars League standings with 30 points, three less than Al Duhail and one adrift of Al Rayyan, Al Sadd have reached the quarterfinals of Amir Cup as well.

Their latest achievement was the tie-breaker victory over Qatar SC in the 2019-20 Ooredoo Cup quarterfinal.

Qatar’s other representative in Asia’s premier club competition Al Duhail are in Group C along with Iran’s Persepolis, Saudi Arabia’s Al Taawon and the UAE’s Sharjah.

Qatar’s Al Rayyan and Al Sailiya had failed to book their berths in the tournament proper after losing in play-offs to Iran’s Esteghlal and Shahr Khodro respectively.
