Al Rayyan are up against Saudi Arabia’s Al Ittihad in the fifth round of AFC Champions League Group B on Tuesday. The kick-off is at 21:30 at the Al Sadd Stadium in Doha.

Al Rayyan are in a must-win situation as they are last in the group with only three points they earned from their 2-1 victory over Uzbekistan’s Lokomotiv in the second round.

The Lions can advance past the group stage provided they win their remaining encounters, the last being against Lokomotiv away.

Al Rayyan go into the game on a high, having stormed into the semifinal of Emir Cup by beating Al Arabi on penalties. They will face Al Sadd in the last-four game on 11th May.

Al Rayyan had opened their campaign on a disappointing note, losing 1-5 to Al Ittihad. They could win in the second round, but crashed 1-2 in Doha against the UAE’s Al Wahda who also beat them 4-3 back-to-back.

Al Rayyan will rely on the attacking abilities of Gelmin Rivas, Sebastian Soria and Lucca Borges. They will have the services of the likes of Koh Myong-Jin and Rodrigo Tabata in the midfield, and Gonzalo Vieira and Moosa Haroun in the defence.

Doing the double over Al Rayyan across the past two matchdays had sent Al Wahda to the top of the group with nine points. A point at home against Lokomotiv on Tuesday will confirm their place in the Round of 16.
