Al Duhail take on Al Sailiya in the first semifinal of 2020 Qatar Cup at the Al Sadd Stadium on Friday, 10th January. The kick-off is at 19:30.
Al Sadd face Al Rayyan in the second semifinal on Saturday, 11 January. The kick-off time and venue is the same for both semifinals and final.
Al Duhail qualified for the Qatar Cup’s sixth edition by virtue of finishing second in the 2018-19 QNB Stars League, while Al Sailiya made it to the elite tournament featuring the top-four teams in the league by finishing a creditable third, behind reigning champions Al Sadd and Al Duhail.
Both teams go into the match, eyeing a berth in the final, scheduled for Friday, 17th January.
Al Duhail were held to a goalless draw by Qatar SC, while Al Sailiya lost 1-2 to Al Khor in the QNB Stars League Week 12 action last week.
Al Duhail are the league table toppers with 30 points, while Al Sailiya occupy the sixth position with 17 points.
Al Duhail and Al Rayyan are the only unbeaten teams in this season’s league competition.
Coaches Rui Faria of Al Duhail and Sami Trabelsi of Al Sailiya are sure to make the best use of their players with the aim of achieving victory.
Faria mainly has new star recruit Mario Mandzukic, goalkeeper Amine Lecomte, Mehdi Benatia, Karim Boudiaf, Mohammed Muntari, Ismail Mohammed, Yousef Msakni and Paulo Edmilson.
On the other hand, Trabelsi, who is into his seventh season with Al Sailiya, will bank more on the services of goalkeeper Khalifa Aboobacker, Majdi Siddiq, Abdulqadir Ilyas, Nadir Belhadj, Karim Ansari, Serigne Mbodji and Mubarak Boussoufa.
