Al Ahli players spoke to QSL Online on the Media Day. They expressed their desire to put up a strong and exciting game. Foreign professionals, Dutchman Nigel de Jong and Moroccan Mohsine Moutaouli, were among a host of players to have joined The Brigadiers this season.

They all expressed satisfaction that Al Ahli put behind the disappointment of losing to Al Rayyan by putting it across Qatar SC in Week 2 of the QNB Stars League.

We can achieve a creditable position: Mohsine Moutaouli

“We’ve confidence in ourselves and we’re sure we can achieve a creditable position in the 2018-19 season QNB Stars League standings. The squad includes players of great calibre and they’re able to deliver the goods.

“The league this season will be more challenging, be it the fight at the top, middle or bottom. Everyone aims to achieve the team’s targets and hopefully we’ll satisfy our diehard fans. They deserve it and I encourage them to support us at the stadiums.”

We’ll take it step-by-step: Nigel de Jong

“Only two games are over and I can see our team is improving. We’ve got our first three points. We can be a strong side. We’ll take it step-by-step. We had almost eight new players and we hope they all gel well soon.

“I don’t see much difference playing in Qatar. The field is competitive and the air-conditioned stadiums make it comfortable for the players.”

We can go up the standings: Barro Siddiq

“We’ve a strong squad this season. We started our QNB Stars League on a losing note after losing to Al Rayyan, but came back strongly by beating in-form Qatar SC.

“We’ve the players to deliver the goods, so we can go up the standings and finish in a creditable position.”

We can definitely do a great job: John Benson

“We can definitely do a great job this season. We couldn’t achieve our goals last season because of many problems.

“This time around, we’ve the chance to make it big provided all things fall in place. I do hope all our players come good and we display high team spirit. That’ll stand us in good stead.”

We can aim for a fifth-place finish: Mohammed Terazor

“We’ve had a mixed start to the season, losing a game and winning the next. The season is too long and we’ve a long way to go.

“We know our task isn’t easy. Our target is to finish the QNB Stars League in a strong position. Maybe, we can aim for a fifth-place finish.”
