The eighth edition of Workers’ Cup, organised by the Qatar Stars League (QSL) and sponsored by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), is all set to kick off on Friday, 28th February.
The draw for the 2020 edition was conducted at the Al Aziziyah Boutique Hotel in Aspire Zone on Tuesday, in the presence of team coaches and captains.
A total of 20 teams will vie for honours. The group stages and knockout rounds of this year’s tournament will be held at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup training sites cluster at Qatar University. The players will follow in the footsteps of numerous international teams, including Algeria, Iran, Oman and India, who have used the facility as a training base last year.
The following are the groups:
Group A: Nakheel Landscapes, Challenger, HBK Contracting, Aktor
Group B: Larsen & Toubro, Qatar Master, Qatar Star Services, Al Asmakh
Group C: Trags Engineering, Teyseer Services Company, GSS Certis, Petroserv
Group D: Shapoorji Pallonji, Trags & Agency Services, Al Sraiya Security Services, Teyseer Security Services
Group E: Mowasalat, Smeet, Manforce, NAAAS Group
Speaking after the draw, Mr. Hassan Rabiah Al Kuwari, Executive Director of Marketing, Sales and Communications at the QSL, said, “It’s with great pride that we announce the eighth edition of Workers’ Cup. As well as offering our valued workers an opportunity to keep fit and showcase their skills to a wide audience, the Workers’ Cup is also helping to further grow grassroots football in our country.
