Newly promoted side Al Markhiya has confirmed a host of new signings over the weekend as the Oryxes begin to prepare for the new 2017/2018 season.

The club took to social media to confirm their new coach for the season, announcing that Qatari Yusef Adam is set to replace Italian coach Silvio Diliberto for the new campaign.  Adam is no stranger to managing in the QSL, having previously led Al Ahli to a tenth place finish in the QSL standings last season.

Markhiya also announced the signing of two players to bolster the squad, first up is Gambian youth international Tijan Jaiteh along with goalkeeper Fahad Younes, formally of El Jaish.  Both players will now join up with their new team-mates and will be changed with helping the newly promoted side to avoid the drop.

Speaking on the new coach Al Markhiya’s head of football Mujib Hamad insisted his side is well equipped to survive in the league. “We are expecting much from Yusef Adam this season. He has plenty of experience in the league and this will be crucial if Markhiya are to do well, everyone at the club wishes him the very best.”

“Both signings will be crucial for us. Tijan Jaiteh is a tough defensive midfielder, and will be needed over the course of the season. As for Fahad Younes he is a young goalkeeper and we hope he can make a big impact for the side” added Hamad when asked about the new signings.
