<p>Umm Salal’s Yannick Sagbo is considered as one of the most prominent strikers in the QNB Stars League. His game is getting better after every week’s action. He netted a hat-trick in The Orange Fortress’ last game against Al Arabi and now share the second position with Al Rayyan’s Sebastian Soria in top-scorers’ chart with five goals.</p><p>In an exclusive interview with QSL Online, the Ivorian striker speaks about his team, their recent game against Al Arabi, the goals he scored and his ambition this season.</p><p><strong>What’s your assessment of the team’s campaign so far in the league?</strong></p><p>We’re performing well and haven’t lost a match so far. We’re third in the standings on 10 points. That’s proof of our potential to target a strong finish in the league campaign.</p><p><strong>Did you except such positive results for Umm Salal?</strong></p><p>Right from the pre-season training camp, we knew how good we were. The preparatory time was beneficial. However, we can’t foresee the results.</p><p><strong>How do you rate the previous game against Al Arabi?</strong></p><p>We showed a high level of concentration and could put up an excellent performance.</p>

<p><strong>Did you expect to score three goals?</strong></p><p>No. I didn’t. But one of the team officials had a hunch that I would score two goals. I’m happy to have helped the side.</p><p><strong>What’s your target with Umm Salal this season?</strong></p><p>I wish we would finish in the third position and be eligible to play in the Qatar Cup.</p><p><strong>What’re the strengths of your team?</strong></p><p>In general, the atmosphere at the club is very positive and encouraging. The players, officials and technical staff are like one family.</p><p><strong>What’re your ambitions as a player this season?</strong></p><p>My main goal is to help the team finish in a creditable spot in the league. If there’s an individual ambition, it’ll be to break my scoring record from last season and net more than 15 goals.</p><p><strong>There’re talks about the possibility of your transfer to other clubs in the QNB Stars League. What do you say?</strong></p><p>I always hear such talks, but nothing is official so far. I’m happy with Umm Salal and helping them earn as many positive results as possible is what I think at the moment.</p><p><strong>Are Umm Salal capable of competing for the league title?</strong></p><p>Yes, we’re.</p><p><strong>Will the target to be the top scorer put pressure on you in the coming games?</strong></p><p>Of course, not. On the contrary, it motivates me.</p><p><strong>What do you promise Umm Salal’s fans and team management?</strong></p><p>I promise them that we’ll try hard to be among the top-four teams and compete in the AFC Champions League. We’re also keen on lifting either Emir’s Cup or Qatar Cup.</p><p><strong>In your opinion, which team has better chances to win the league?</strong></p><p>I consider Al Duhail as the top contenders for league title.</p>
