QNB Stars League side Umm Salal roped in Nigerian striker Christian Osaguona for one season. He replaced Tunisian attacking midfielder Oussama Darragi, who joined them halfway through last season.

Osaguona was unveiled at a Press conference on Sunday. Umm Salal Sports Club President Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser Al Thani welcomed him to the team and wished him success.

“We’re happy with the signing of Osaguona and we hope he’ll be a strong addition to us as we bid to put up a strong performance in the coming season as well. We negotiated with many professional players before finalising the deal with him, in consultation with the technical staff,” said Sheikh Hamad, exuding confidence that the squad was now strong enough to achieve outstanding results.

Osaguona thus completed the list of Umm Salal’s overseas recruits as Ivorian Yannick Sagbo, Syrian Mahmoud Mawas and Moroccan Adel Rhaili stayed from last season.

On his part, Osaguona expressed his happiness to have joined Umm Salal and said he came to know about the strong level of competition in the QNB Stars League from his compatriot Michael Babatunde, who played in Qatar.
